Everything You Need To Know About The Aspire PockeX

The Aspire PockeX is one of the best vape pens on the market and arguably the best all-in-one vaping device.

Such is the popularity of this device that it’s generating loads of questions from interested buyers on Google.

We’ve identified and answered the most commonly searched questions about the Aspire PockeX from around the web.

After reading this article, you’ll know everything you need to know about this outstanding piece of kit.

1. What is the Aspire PockeX?

This is an obvious place to start for anyone who’s not familiar with the device!

As we touched on above, the Aspire PockeX is a hugely popular vape pen that’s slim, portable, discreet, and easy on the eye.

It’s simple to use, big on flavour and vapour, and it has a solid build quality. Therefore, it can be used on the go by both novice and experienced vapers.

It’s also available for a very reasonable price, given its range of nifty features.

You’d most likely buy the Aspire PockeX if you were transitioning from smoking to vaping, as it provides a similar hand-to-mouth action.

2. How do I use the Aspire PockeX?

The Aspire PockeX is easy to use thanks to its minimalist, streamlined design.

Aspire PockeX All-in-One Starter Kit

To turn on the Aspire PockeX, press the ‘fire’ button five times (in the middle, above the branding - you can see it in the image above). You should press the button quickly to ensure the device switches on properly.

Once it’s on, the light around the fire button will flash three times, and then you’re good to go. The Aspire PockeX is a single button-operated device, so you have no other buttons or switches to think about.

You should repeat the above step of pressing the fire button quickly five times to turn the PockeX off once you’re finished using it.

3. How do I fill an Aspire PockeX?

The Aspire PockeX's top-fill design means it's easy for you to fill the tank with e liquid.

First, you need to unscrew the top cap (the silver part at the top, directly below the mouthpiece), remove it and do the same with the coil. When you do this, you should have a piece of kitchen roll ready in case juice drips from the coil.

Prime your coil by allowing the e liquid to saturate the cotton or wicking material inside it (see 1:21 of this video for a visual demonstration of what we mean by this).

Then, all you have to do is fill the 2ml tank up to the max line with your 50/50 e liquid, screw the top cap and coil back onto the device and continue vaping.

Just be careful not to overfill your device. This is easily done as the max line can be quite easy to miss – it’s only presented in small letters saying ‘MAX’. But it’s next to the viewing window above the fire button, to the right. Once you’ve located it, make sure you’re only filling up to that point.

4. How do I clean my Aspire PockeX?

Cleaning your Aspire PockeX is quick and easy, and you should follow the same steps when cleaning almost any vaping device.

As the Aspire PockeX is an all-in-one kit, there’s no need to remove or clean the tank. However, here are the steps to follow if you’re cleaning the coil:

  • Douse the coil in hot water, vinegar, or vodka. You should leave it for a few minutes before rinsing it with cold water.
  • Ideally, you should leave the coil to dry for around 24 hours, but some vapers recommend leaving them for several days.
  • Prime the coil with e-liquid – like it’s new – before using it again.

You may find that you get more usage out of the coils if you clean them regularly. But don’t expect them to reproduce their original flavour, and make sure you replace them when you start tasting a consistent burnt flavour.

5. What wattage is the Aspire PockeX?

The Aspire PockeX’s 0.6ohm atomiser (the component that's responsible for generating vapour and is made up of a wick and coil) is rated 18 to 23 Watts. This fixed wattage is designed for the specific coils used in the PockeX, providing a sub-ohm vaping experience with a focus on flavour and vapour production.

However, if you’d prefer more of a mouth-to-lung experience and to vape at a lower wattage, you should be aware that the Aspire PockeX doesn’t offer adjustable wattage settings.

To get around this, you can buy the 1.2ohm Aspire PockeX replacement coils. These highly rated coils give you a mouth-to-lung vape that produces less cloud and delivers a higher nicotine content.

We cover the above points in more detail in point 9 (see below).

6. How do I replace the glass of my Aspire PockeX?

If you’ve dropped your Aspire PockeX and the glass has smashed, don’t worry — you don’t need to replace the entire tank. We sell replacement glass that you can install quickly and easily by following these seven simple steps:

  1. Prepare a clean, well-lit work area.
  2. Make sure your Aspire PockeX is switched off.
  3. Make sure your tank is empty. If not, pour the e liquid into a suitable container.
  4. Disassemble the tank by unscrewing the top cap. Make sure you separate the different components (the base with the coil, replacement glass, top cap, and drip tip).
  5. Carefully remove the broken glass from the base or top cap. You can use your fingers but may want to wear protective gloves to avoid cutting yourself, or you may want to use a gentle prying tool like a small screwdriver.
  6. Slide the replacement glass onto the top cap, ensuring it fits snugly over the O-rings directly underneath. Be gentle to avoid damaging the glass.
  7. Reassemble your tank by screwing the top cap back on and reattaching the base with the coil. Make sure everything is securely tightened but not too tight.

7. Why is my Aspire PockeX not working?

In the interest of not patronising you, we’re going to assume that your tank is adequately filled with e liquid and that the tank, coil, and battery are secure and properly tightened.

Assuming that’s all taken care of, there could be several reasons for your Aspire PockeX not working, with the most common being:

Your battery level is low

If this is the case, rapidly press the fire button five times to power the PockeX on or off (as we referenced in point 2). The LED lights around the button will flash blue three times to indicate that it’s on and pink three times to indicate that it’s off.

You then need to observe the colour of the LED light around the fire button — if it’s orange, that means the charge is less than 30%, and that’s likely why your Aspire PockeX isn’t working if you haven’t charged it for a while.

To rectify this, simply plug the USB cable into the charging point, as shown in this video. The light at the bottom of the kit will turn red to indicate that it’s charging, and it’ll turn green once the kit’s fully charged.

You haven’t primed your coil

If you've just installed a new coil, you need to prime it by applying a few drops of e liquid directly onto the exposed cotton wick before vaping. This prevents dry hits (which we explore in more detail further down) and ensures proper wicking.

For further tips, check out our handy guide on how to prime your coil.

Your coil is burnt or worn-out

While this won’t stop your Aspire PockeX from working, it’ll stop it from working effectively.

We cover what to do in this scenario in the next point.

8. When should I change the coil of my Aspire PockeX?

The main sign that you need to change the coils of your Aspire PockeX is when the vapour starts to taste burnt.

If your coil is burnt, you’ll experience a burnt taste or dry hit when you vape, which is unpleasant — as anyone who’s experienced this will tell you! You’ll know straight away that something’s wrong.

Here are some other signs that you need to change your coil:

  • Your Aspire PockeX isn’t producing as much vapour as it usually does.
  • The e liquid inside your Aspire Pockex is ‘spitting’, i.e., small droplets of hot vape juice are dripping from the mouthpiece and into your mouth as you vape.
  • Your Aspire PockeX makes a ‘gurgling’ sound while firing up.

Should any of the above instances apply to you, there are a couple of solutions.

You can either get our Aspire PockeX replacement coils or triple-check that your coil is properly screwed into the base.

9. Which Aspire coils are compatible with the Aspire PockeX?

The Aspire PockeX uses two bespoke replacement coils of different resistances — 0.6ohm and 1.2ohm. These are designed for direct-to-lung and mouth-to-lung vaping, respectively.

Here’s a quick overview of why you would choose each coil:

  • The 0.6ohm coil is ideal for clear flavour and large cloud production and should be used with e liquids containing a Vegetable Glycerin (VG) concentration of 60% or above.
  • The 1.2ohm coil is ideal for more discreet cloud levels, higher nicotine strengths, and e liquids with a higher Propylene Glycol (PG) concentration, i.e., 50% or above. You’d most likely use this type of coil if you’re a recent ex-smoker who wants to slowly transition to vaping.

The Aspire PockeX is also compatible with the Aspire Nautilus X coils. You’ll get much better performance from this device when it's paired with the lower resistance Nautilus X coils, i.e., the coils that are less than 1.5ohm. Coils with resistances of 1.5ohm or above make it difficult for the Aspire PockeX’s battery to power up fully.

10. How long does the coil of an Aspire PockeX last?

The different coils that are compatible with the Aspire PockeX last different lengths of time. If you’re using a 0.6ohm coil, this will typically last about a week before it needs to be replaced. Higher resistance coils such as the 1.2ohm and some Aspire Nautilus coils will last longer – up to four weeks if you take proper care of them.

By ‘proper care’ we mean:

  • Soaking the wick with e liquid before you install your coils (‘priming’ them, as we covered above).
  • Using a high-quality e liquid – avoid e liquids that contain large amounts of sweeteners.
  • Regularly cleaning your coils to remove excess debris or residue – you can use warm water, vinegar, or vodka to do this.
  • Not letting your tank run empty, as doing so will lead to a ‘burnt’ or ‘dry’ hit.
  • Allowing your coils to cool down when you turn off your Aspire PockeX before firing it up again to prevent them from burning.

11. Why is my Aspire PockeX crackling?

If you hear a slight crackling, popping, or hissing noise from your Aspire PockeX, this noise may be completely normal. It could stem from the liquid inside being heated and vapourised. If you don’t notice any difference in flavour or vapour, it’s probably nothing to worry about.

Even if the crackling noise is louder, this doesn’t necessarily mean there’s something wrong with your Aspire PockeX. The volume often depends on power output, i.e., if you’re vaping at less than 1ohm at a high wattage, i.e., above 50 Watts, the crackling noise will typically be louder.

If your Aspire PockeX is crackling and producing a burnt flavour, or you’re noticing small droplets of vape juice leaking from the mouthpiece, this is most likely because the coil is flooding. And this is often due to one of two reasons — either the coil is simply on its way out, or you’ve over-saturated the wicking material of your coil with vape juice.

If it’s the latter, here are a few quick tips to stop your Aspire PockeX from crackling:

  • Empty your tank, close it, turn it upside down and fire it up for a few seconds to clear out the liquid in the coil.
  • If that doesn't work, take the coil out, place it over a paper towel, and blow through the top or flick it to clear out any excess juice.
  • Clean your coils using cotton buds or kitchen roll. You should wipe on the inside around the bottom, as this is where liquid build-up most commonly occurs.

12. How long does the Aspire PockeX take to charge?

The Aspire PockeX comes with a 1500mAh (milliampere per hour) internal battery that takes around four hours to reach full charge when you charge it for the first time. However, after that the battery should only take about one to two hours to reach full charge. That’s provided you use the USB charging cable included in the Aspire PockeX All-In-One Starter Kit.

The light at the bottom of your Aspire PockeX will turn green when the device is fully charged. The below video shows where to look if you’re unsure.

13. How long does the battery of an Aspire PockeX last?

The battery capacity of the Aspire PockeX is relatively low at 1500mAh, so how much longevity you get from it depends on the type of vaper you are.

If you’re a frequent vaper, you can probably use the Aspire PockeX for one day before you need to recharge the battery (or a few hours if you’re a very frequent vaper). However, if you’re a more moderate vaper, you should be able to get two full days of vaping out of it.

You’ll know how much battery power you’ve got left based on the colour of the light at the bottom of your device, as we cover below.

14. Can I replace the battery of my Aspire PockeX?

No – the battery is fixed to the device, so you can't replace it and can only charge it using a USB cable.

15. Why is my Aspire PockeX flashing blue?

When you notice a blue light on your Aspire PockeX, its battery level is above 30%.

16. Why is my Aspire PockeX flashing orange?

If your Aspire PockeX is flashing orange, its battery level is below 30%, and it needs to be recharged.

17. Why is my Aspire PockeX flashing pink?

The colour pink indicates that the device is switched off.

18. Is the Aspire PockeX direct-to-lung?

The Aspire PockeX’s 0.6ohm coil is perfect for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping.

This coil gives you a looser, more airy inhale, thicker vapour, more flavour, and more nicotine with each draw of your chosen e liquid.

19. What is the best liquid for the Aspire PockeX?

You can use a variety of vape juices with the Aspire PockeX, depending on the type of coil you’ve opted for.

However, the Aspire PockeX is most suited to juices containing a 50:50 split of VG and PG. This split gives you the optimal balance of throat hit, flavour, and vapour production.

Juices with a VG concentration of 50% or above are also compatible with the Aspire PockeX.

But just to remind you — if you’re vaping with a high VG e liquid, you should use the 0.6ohm resistance coils. You can vape with juices of up to 70% VG concentration with these coils.

Whilst you can sub-ohm vape with higher PG liquids, most vapers will find the throat hit too harsh. If you’re vaping with a 50:50 e liquid, the 1.2ohm coils are the best match.

20. Why does the Aspire PockeX get hot sometimes?

If you detect heat coming from your Aspire PockeX, don’t panic – this is totally normal and easy to fix in most instances. Also, because the Aspire PockeX it’s a regulated vaping device, it’s hugely unlikely to catch fire.

Here are some of the common reasons it’s heating up:

  • The coil is heating your liquid or vapourising it into a gas form. You trigger this by pressing the button to vape, causing electricity to transmit to your coil and heat it up.
  • The device is getting hotter whilst charging, as the power releases heat to it.
  • The coil is surrounded by ‘gunk’, which prevents them from absorbing the liquid properly and increases your device’s temperature. In this instance, you should either give your coil a thorough clean or replace it.
  • You’re ‘chain vaping’, or vaping continuously for a long period, thus not giving your device’s battery or tank time to cool down.
  • You’re vaping at too high a wattage – 50 to 75 Watts is optimal in most instances.
  • You’re vaping with the wrong type of coil for your vaping style (i.e., MTL or DTL) and frequency.
  • There’s a lack of airflow into the device. Opening your adjustable airflow to allow more air in should cool down the vapour you inhale.

If you notice your Aspire PockeX getting hot, the general rule is to put it aside for ten minutes or so to let it cool down. Provided you bear the above in mind and follow the recommended steps, you shouldn’t experience any major problems.

However, if you follow the necessary procedures and your Aspire PockeX is still so hot you can’t touch it, this needs to be looked into further. We recommend contacting Aspire’s customer service team if this is the case.
